Murr Family

Carl August Murr, best known as Charlie Murr, was born in 1866 and died in 1934, aged 86 years. He was the son of Christoph Murr who was a bootmaker. His mother was Magdalena Wachtstelle (maiden name).

Charlie Murr was married to Sarah Jane Tedford. They had five children: Gertrude Emily, John Charles, Archibald Oliver, Elsie Marie, Alexander William.

Charlie had the first blacksmith shop in Chermside and in the 1920s he started the first petrol garage in Chermside which stood on the corner of Gympie Road and Latham Street, next to the blacksmith shop
